This time before starting my drotel I created a drawing that I was going to then turn into the model. I decided that an isometric with sectional qualities would show my space the best. Below is my trial version. I used this model to try out different ways to show the spaces. You can see below that for the grass grid pattern I tried to layer it on the lower section and cut it out on the higher section. I tried three different methods for connecting the buildings that are being pushed into the background in order to find the cleanest method. By using this trial version I was able to create a better method for when I created the drotel on my larger sheet.
